Now do we wait in quiet. God is here because we wait together. I am sure that He will speak to you, and you will hear. Accept my confidence, for it is yours. Our minds are joined. We wait with one intent; to hear our Father's answer to our call, to let our thoughts be still and find His peace, to hear Him speak to us of what we are, and to reveal Himself unto His Son.

This lesson opens the second section of the workbook, a new cycle where the voice becomes more intimate, more personal, like a prayer from the heart. It begins with a direct invocation to the Father: "Father, I come to You today seeking the peace that only You can give." The response from our Father to our call is to let our thoughts be calm and find His peace. The certainty that He will speak rests on the shared trust between our joined minds.
The lesson describes a movement inward: you enter the deepest folds of your mind, where the noise of the world cannot follow you. There, you wait to hear His Voice. No complicated formulas, no elaborate rituals. Just a silent, trusting wait. "My Father, speak to me today."
The second part of the lesson is an invitation to shared trust. "Now we wait quietly. God is here, because we wait together. I am sure He will speak to you, and you will hear. Accept my trust, for it is yours." Here, the voice of the course becomes that of a brother sharing his certainty with you.
Practice:
Begin your day with this prayer, spoken aloud or in your heart. Then, several times during the day, take a moment of silence. Do not try to think of anything in particular. Simply wait, as if listening to a very gentle melody coming from afar. If thoughts arise, do not chase them, let them pass. What matters is not the content of what you hear, but the listening attitude you cultivate.
God always speaks, but His language is silence: by learning to be still, you learn to hear the word that has never ceased being spoken to you.
