Lesson 141
Lesson 141

Review (121 and 122)

Now, another review, this time with the awareness that we are preparing for the second part of learning how truth can be applied. Today, we begin to focus on preparing for what follows. This is our goal for this review and for the lessons to come. Thus, we go over the recent lessons and their central ideas in a way that will facilitate the preparation we now seek to achieve.

There is a central theme that unifies each step of the review we undertake, which can be simply stated as follows:

My mind contains only what I think with God.

This is a fact, and it represents the truth of Who You Are and Who your Father Is. This is the Thought by which the Father gave creation to the Son, establishing the Son as co-creator with Himself. This is the Thought that fully guarantees the salvation of the Son. For in his mind, no thought can remain except those his Father shares. The lack of forgiveness blocks this Thought from his awareness. Yet, it is eternally true.

Let us begin our preparation by understanding some of the many forms in which the lack of true forgiveness can be carefully concealed. Because they are illusions, they are not perceived as they really are: defenses that protect your unforgiving thoughts from being seen and recognized. Their purpose is to show you something else, and to block correction with self-deceptions made to replace it.

And yet, your mind contains only what you think with God. Your self-deceptions cannot take the place of truth. Just as a child who throws a stick into the ocean cannot change the coming and going of the tides, the warming of the water by the sun, or the silver gleam of the moon upon it at night, so we begin each practice period in this review by preparing our minds to understand the lessons we read and to see the meaning they offer us.

Begin each day with a period in which you establish your mind to learn what each idea you review that day can offer you in terms of freedom and peace. Open your mind and release it from all the thoughts that would deceive, and let this one Thought occupy it fully and exclude the rest:

My mind contains only what I think with God.

Five minutes with this Thought are enough to set the day along the lines that God has established, and to place His Spirit at the head of all the thoughts you receive that day. They will not come from you alone, for they will all be shared with Him. And thus, each will bring you the message of His Love, and return the messages of yours to Him. Thus will the communion with the Lord of Hosts be yours, as He Himself has willed it. And as His own accomplishment is joined with Him, He will join with you who are accomplished when you join with Him and He with you.

After your preparation, simply read each of the two ideas assigned to your review for the day. Then close your eyes and repeat them slowly to yourself. There is no rush now, for you are using time for its true purpose. Let each word shine with the meaning God has given it, as it was given to you by His Voice. Let each idea you review that day offer you the gift He has placed in it for you to have from Him. And we will use no other format for our practice than this:

Each hour of the day, return to the Thought with which the day began, and spend a quiet moment with It. Then repeat the two ideas you are practicing that day without haste, taking enough time to see the gifts they hold for you, and let them be received where they were meant to be. We add no other thoughts, but let them be the messages they are. We need nothing more for happiness, rest, infinite peace, perfect certainty, and all that our Father wills we receive as our inheritance from Him.

Each day of practice, as we review, we end as we began, first repeating the Thought that made the day a special time of blessing and happiness for us; and through our faithfulness, restoring the world from darkness to light, from sorrow to joy, from pain to peace, from sin to holiness. God thanks you for practicing His Word in this way. And when you give your mind again to the ideas of the day before you sleep, His gratitude will surround you in the peace in which He wills you to be forever, and where you are learning now to claim again as your inheritance.

LESSON 141

My mind contains only what I think with God.

(121) Forgiveness is the key to happiness.

(122) Forgiveness offers everything I want.

✨ Summary & practice

Forgiveness, key and treasure.

We arrive at an important moment: review. Why review? Because the ideas of this course are so different from the world’s that they need to take root in your mind through repetition. The central thought of this review is beautiful: your mind holds only what you think with God. Everything else, fears, doubts, judgments, is just noise. Today, we clear this noise by returning to the fundamentals.

Forgiveness is the key to happiness (121). The mind that does not forgive is filled with fear, torn by doubt, terrified by light itself. Forgiveness offers everything you want (122): peace, happiness, certainty, security, beauty that transcends the world. It lifts the veil from the face of Christ and restores your memory of God. This is the perfect answer to all your questions. In reviewing, you allow these truths to descend from your mind to your heart.

This review prepares for all that follows. Lessons 123–140 deepened these themes: gratitude, unity with God, silence, giving, unique love. By revisiting lessons 121–122, you lay the foundation on which everything else is built. The review 141–150 offers you a breath, a time of integration before approaching the more advanced lessons on non-defense (153), holiness (156), and grace (169).

Practice:

Today, choose one of the two lessons, 121 or 122, and spend five minutes meditating on it. Repeat the central thought: β€œMy mind holds only what I think with God.” Then let the lesson you chose illuminate your day. Whenever you meet a difficulty, remember that forgiveness is the key and that it offers everything.

Review with joy. Each repetition brings you closer to truth.
