Lesson 45

If they do not fall, I do not miss many cicadas.

Excerpt

"How clever you are!" cried Confucius. "Have you any way of doing this?" "I have a way," replied the hunchback. In the fifth and sixth moons I practise balancing two balls one on top of the other. If they do not fall, I do not miss many cicadas.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Chuang Tzu, the hunchback catches cicadas as surely as with his hand because he has patiently practised, for months, keeping balls balanced on the end of his pole. Today, choose a small gesture you want to do better and practise it for a few minutes with patience, without judging yourself, savouring each bit of progress.
