Lesson 364

With all the sharpness of the Way of Heaven, It injures not; with all the doing in the way of the sage he does not strive.

Excerpt

The sage does not accumulate (for himself). The more that he expends for others, the more does he possess of his own; the more that he gives to others, the more does he have himself. With all the sharpness of the Way of Heaven, It injures not; with all the doing in the way of the sage he does not strive.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Lao Tzu, the sage hoards nothing for himself: the more he gives and spends himself for others, the richer he becomes within, in the image of the Way of Heaven, which does good to all beings without ever harming them. Today, give something of yourself (a service, a piece of advice, time to listen) without counting, and notice what this gift gives back to you.
