Lesson 338

To him who holds in his hands the Great Image, the whole world repairs.

Excerpt

To him who holds in his hands the Great Image, the whole world repairs. Men resort to him, and receive no hurt, but (find) rest, peace, and the feeling of ease. Music and dainties will make the passing guest stop (for a time). But though the Tao as it comes from the mouth, seems insipid and has no flavour, though It seems not worth being looked at or listened to, the use of It is inexhaustible.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Lao Tzu, the sage who holds “the Great Image”, that is, the Tao, draws all peoples to him and brings them peace, calm and ease; the Tao seems bland next to music and fine food, but It is inexhaustible. Today, choose a very simple moment of calm (a walk, a cup of tea, a silence) over a brilliant distraction, and savour what it brings you.
