Lesson 267

Were he not told so, he would not know that he loved his fellows.

Excerpt

The love of a Sage for his fellows likewise finds expression among mankind. Were he not told so, he would not know that he loved his fellows. But whether he knows it or whether he does not know it, whether he hears it or whether he does not hear it, his love for his fellows is without end, and mankind cease not to repose therein.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Chuang Tzu, the Sage acts with what he knows, leaves it to others to see his qualities and does good spontaneously, as if by nature, without calculation and without expecting anything in return. Today, do someone a discreet favour without telling anyone and without expecting thanks.
