Lesson 139

Our feelings by day and our dreams by night are the result of contacts made by mind or body.

Excerpt

A dream is something that comes into contact with the mind; an external event is something that impinges on the body. Hence our feelings by day and our dreams by night are the result of contacts made by mind or body. It follows that if we can concentrate the mind in abstraction, our feelings and our dreams will vanish of themselves.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Lieh Tzu, our daytime thoughts and our night dreams are only passing impressions, reflections, and a steady mind does not cling to them. Today, when an anxious thought returns, gently name it “impression” and let it pass without following it.
