Lesson 56

Thou didst turn for me my mourning into dancing.

Excerpt

Thou didst turn for me my mourning into dancing; Thou didst loose my sackcloth, and gird me with gladness; So that my glory may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent; O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto Thee for ever.

✨ To meditate on today

According to the psalmist, God can turn mourning into dancing and replace sackcloth, the rough garment of penance and sorrow, with a girdle of gladness. Today, if sadness dwells in you, allow yourself a small gesture of joy — some music, a few dance steps, a walk — without denying your pain, and give thanks for this breath of lightness.
