According to Isaiah, the prophet, God does not look on His people’s suffering from afar: He suffers with them, protects them with His presence, and in His love bears them and carries them through the ages. Today, stand by someone who is suffering without trying to solve everything: simply stay present at their side, and carry a little of their pain with them.
