Lesson 280

The perfect union of these two spirits comes from the fact that it is made in love.

Excerpt

The perfect union of these two spirits comes from the fact that it is made in love. It is of such a union that Scripture says: “Thy two breasts are like two young twins of a gazelle, which feed among the lilies.” Of such unions is the palace “Ahabah” (love) formed. For, after the union, the fifth palace changes its name and takes that of “Ahabah,” instead of “Beraqa.” It is in this palace that all beings are united through their common attachment to the Mystery of mysteries; and it is of this palace that Scripture says: “There will I offer Thee my love.”

✨ To meditate on today

According to the Zohar, the great book of Jewish mysticism, a union is perfect only when it is made with love; it illustrates this with a tender image from the Song of Songs, the love poem of the Bible. The “palaces” are levels of the spiritual world: one of them takes the name “Ahabah,” “love” in Hebrew, for all beings are united there in their common attachment to God, the “Mystery of mysteries.” Today, before working or speaking with someone, inwardly wish them well, so that what binds you is made with love.
