But Zion said: ‘The LORD hath forsaken me, And the Lord hath forgotten me.’ Can a woman forget her sucking child, That she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, these may forget, Yet will not I forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of My hands; Thy walls are continually before Me.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Isaiah, when Zion — Jerusalem, an image of the people — believes God has forgotten her, He answers that a mother might perhaps forget her child, but that He will never forget her: He has engraved her upon the palms of His hands. Today, if you feel forgotten or alone, look at the palm of your hand and remember this promise; then think of someone who might feel forgotten, and get in touch with them.
