Mantic uttaïr, God’s Reproof to Moses

One day God said to Moses, “Korah has called to Thee, weeping, seventy times, and Thou hast never answered him. Had he called upon Me in the same manner only once, I would have torn from his heart the shoot of polytheism, and covered his breast with the garment of faith. O Moses! Thou hast made him perish amid a hundred torments; Thou hast cast him down, abased upon the earth. Hadst Thou created him, Thou wouldst have been less severe toward him.”
The Being who extends His mercy even to those who are without mercy fills the merciful with His favours. He is an inexhaustible ocean of goodness; therefore our tears and our sobs implore forgiveness for our faults. Can he who obtains such forgiveness be altered by a stain? To commit the faults ordinarily committed by sinners is thereby to join the company of the wicked.
