An observer of spiritual things went to the Ocean and asked it why it was clad in blue; why it wore this robe of mourning, and why it seethed without fire.
The Ocean gave this answer to that attentive man of understanding:
“I am moved by the separation from my friend. Since, on account of my own insufficiency, I am not worthy of Him, I have taken blue garments as a sign of the sorrow I feel for it. In my distress, my lips are parched, and it is because of the fire of my love that I am seized with this agitation, like boiling. If I could find a drop of His celestial water of Kauçar, I would enjoy eternal life at His door. Without this drop that I seek, I shall die of longing, along with the thousands of beings who perish day and night in His path.”
