The word 'compulsion' makes me impatient for love's sake; 'Tis he who loves not who is fettered by compulsion. This is close communion with God, not compulsion, The shining of the sun, and not a dark cloud. Or, if it be compulsion, 'tis not common compulsion, It is not the domination of wanton wilfulness.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Rûmî in the Masnavi, the one who loves does not experience God’s will as a constraint that chains him, but as an intimate communion, bright as the sun: only the one who does not love feels fettered. Today, choose a task that costs you and do it out of love for someone; notice how much lighter it becomes.
