Outward colors arise from the light of sun and stars, and inward colors from the Light on high.

According to Rûmî in the Masnavi, just as the sun gives things their colors, the divine Light gives our inner states their colors: joy, peace and kindness come from on high. Today, when a bright emotion passes through you, pause for a moment to recognize it as a reflection of that Light and thank God for it.
