The light that lights the eye is also the heart's Light; The eye's light proceeds from the Light of the heart. But the light that lights the heart is the Light of God, Which is distinct from the light of reason and sense. At night there is no light, and colors are not seen; Hence we know what light is by its opposite, darkness.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Rûmî in the Masnavi, what your eyes see is lit by the light of the heart, and the heart itself is lit by the Light of God; even darkness helps us recognize the light. Today, look at an ordinary person or thing "with the heart", seeking what is luminous in it, and notice what you discover.
