Excerpt
The moon, for its part, melts away because of Thy love; each month it vanishes in its bewilderment. The Ocean, having raised its waves to proclaim Thy glory, has had its robe drenched and its lips dried. The mountain has remained a hundred times upon the path that leads to Thee, its foot sunk deep in the damp earth like a blade of straw. Because of Thy love, fire has flared up, and if it has risen so high, it is because its foot is in the fire.

β¨ To meditate on today
According to Attar, all creation burns with love for God: the moon fades away in wonder, the Ocean raises its waves to sing His glory, the mountain waits upon His path, and fire rises because of His love. Today, look at a flame, that of a candle or a fire, and let it remind you of the surge of love that lifts all things toward God.
