Lesson 362

I gather beauty even from the thorn of disgrace.

Excerpt

Let others grow pale from fear of ill fortune, Do thou smile like the rose at loss and gain; For the rose, though its petals be torn asunder, Still smiles on, and it is never cast down. It says, "Why should I fall into grief in disgrace? I gather beauty even from the thorn of disgrace."

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Rumi, when trials come, you can do as the rose does: even when its petals are torn away, it keeps smiling and gathers beauty even from its thorns. Today, facing an annoyance, look for something beautiful or good it can bring about, and smile at it like the rose.
