When first the Giver of the grape my lonely heart befriended, Wine fired my bosom and my veins filled up, But when His image all mine eye possessed, a voice descended: "Well done, O sovereign Wine and peerless Cup!" Love's mighty arm from roof to base each dark abode is hewing Where chinks reluctant catch a golden ray.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Rumi, when God, “the Giver of the grape”, befriended his lonely heart, His love intoxicated him like wine; the mighty arm of love then opens dark dwellings to let in a golden ray. Today, think of a place in your life that seems dark or closed to you, and open it a little to the light: a conversation, a window, a forgiveness.
