Thou didst strongly shake thy wings and feathers, and having broken thy cage Didst take to the air and journey towards the world of Soul. Thou wert a favourite falcon, kept in captivity by an old woman: When thou heard'st the falcon-drum thou didst fly away into the Void. Thou wert a love-lorn nightingale among owls: The scent of the Rose-Garden, reached thee, and thou didst go to the Rose-Garden.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Rumi, the soul is like a falcon kept in a cage or a nightingale lost among owls: as soon as it hears the call or smells the scent of roses, it breaks its cage and flies toward the world of the soul. Today, notice something that calls you toward beauty, a scent, a piece of music, a beloved face, and follow it for a few moments without doing anything else, as the nightingale follows the scent of the roses.
