None but God has contemplated the beauty of God.

Excerpt

"None but God has contemplated the beauty of God." This eye and that lamp are two lights, each individual, When they came together, no one distinguished them. At morning-tide a moon appeared in the sky, And descended from the sky and gazed on me.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Rumi, the Persian Sufi poet, only God can fully contemplate His own beauty; yet just as the eye and the lamp merge into a single light, His light comes to meet the soul, like a moon descending from the sky to rest its gaze upon it. Today, at dawn or at sunset, look at the light of the sky for a few moments and let yourself be looked upon by it, as by a kindly gaze.
