Lesson 226

He who knows God, even in this world, dwells, as it were, in a paradise.

Excerpt

Seeing, then, that God is the highest possible object of knowledge, the knowledge of Him must afford more delight than any other. He who knows God, even in this world, dwells, as it were, in a paradise, "the breadth of which is as the breadth of the heavens and the earth," a paradise the fruits of which no envy can prevent him plucking, and the extent of which is not narrowed by the multitude of those who occupy it.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Ghazali, the higher what we know, the greater the joy: to know God is therefore to dwell already now in a paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth, which no one can take from you or make smaller. Today, take ten minutes to read, listen to or meditate on something that helps you know God better, with the same pleasure as when you immerse yourself in a passionate activity.
