“Night is with child! what will she bring to birth?” I sit and ask the stars when Thou’rt away. Oh come! and when the nightingale of mirth Pipes in the Spring-awakened garden ground, In Hafiz’ heart shall ring a sweeter sound, Diviner nightingales attune their lay.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Hafiz, a Persian poet, waiting for the Beloved is like a night “with child” of a dawn: when He returns, as spring awakens the garden, a sweeter song rises in the heart. Today, if you are going through a time of waiting or darkness, say softly what you hope to see born, and watch for the first sign of spring, however small.
