Dear is the rose—now, now her sweets proclaim, While yet the purple petals blush and blow; Hither adown the path of Spring she came, And by the path of Autumn she will go. Now, while we listen, Minstrel, tune thy lay! Thyself hast said: “The Present steals away; The Future comes, and bringing—what? Dost know?”

✨ To meditate on today
According to Hafiz, a Persian poet, the rose comes with spring and leaves with autumn: its beauty is to be savoured now, for the present passes and no one knows what tomorrow will bring. Today, stop before a fragile beauty — a flower, a laugh, a light — and take the time to enjoy it fully, without putting it off until later.
