The Most High is this vast ocean. The paradise of earthly delights is but a little drop of it. He who possesses the ocean possesses the drop; all that is not this ocean is folly. When thou canst have the ocean, why wouldst thou go in search of a drop of nocturnal dew?

✨ To meditate on today
According to Attar, in “The Conference of the Birds,” the hoopoe explains to the peacock that God, the Most High, is a vast ocean, and that even the paradise of delights is only a drop of it. Today, when a small desire preoccupies you, smile and turn for a moment toward the Ocean: a prayer, a word of thanks.
