I am the Steed; O come and be my spur, That quick the Victor Goal may me receive. I am the Rosebud; O be my own Rose, That gaudy Earth-weeds ne'er my Heart deceive. I am the East; then rise in me, O Sun, Flame up in Light, and all my Pain relieve. I am the Night; O be my Starry Crown, That in Life's darkness I nor fear, nor grieve.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Rûmî, the soul speaks to the divine Beloved as the east speaks to the sun and the night to its crown of stars: may He rise within it, set it aflame with light and free it from fear and sorrow. Today, at sunrise or sunset, or in front of a lamp, say inwardly "Flame up in light within me", and entrust a specific pain to God.
