In the spiritual path, love and hope are necessary, for time must be spent in these two things. If these two things do not satisfy you, do not yet withdraw your head from these mysteries. Man must be patient in seeking; but shall he who loves not be impatient?

According to Attar in the Mantic uttaïr, the one who walks toward God needs two companions, love and hope, and even when he sees no result yet, he must not turn away from the path. Today, patiently take up again something dear to you that you had left aside, and nourish it with a gesture of love and a thought of hope.
