Tukaram, Poem 3644

By the help of a rope, a man scales a mountain; but he destroys himself over the last footstep.
A doctor cures a patient of a hundred and eight diseases; the patient kills him to escape paying his fee. A mother bears a child’s weight nine months in the womb; he strips her naked, and leaves her in a public place. A man milks a cow, and then ties her up and beats her, and leaves her hungry. Tuka says, A man who reviles God’s worshippers—if you look upon his face, it will cast your ancestors into hell.
