Wherever I look, I see men pounding chaff; I see them licking canes that have been squeezed dry, and expecting to taste sugar. They are deluded souls, O God! I pity them deeply. They are like pressed men carrying rich burdens; their pompous appearance is deceptive; when they reach the halting-place, they must beg an alms. Tuka says, Why this needless mystery? Show your words in close connexion with yourself.
