Tukaram, Poem 2574

Praise not an unripe mind; it loses its activities; the burden of self-conceit loads to a fall. Public pride cannot secure the highest bliss for a man; I laid hold of it and lost my ripeness. Open not your mouth heedlessly before the understanding; you will lose what you thought to gain and your fame will be damaged. Tuka says.
