Tukaram, Poem 2530

Whoso utters the name of any other God
than Govinda, he is voiding excrement.
'Tis like placing a head ornament on the knee;
a mad-man’s prank. Would you call it sensible to
worship slippers because they were once part of
the body? Tuka says, To offer a whore the honour
due to a married woman, would show a spirit like
that of worshipping other Gods.
