Tukaram, Poem 2455

The heart of the wicked cannot be penetrated,
though you reason with him all his life
long. If you pour water on a basket upside
down, be sure, it will not hold it. That man
who is filled with foul passions, his birth has
ensured him a great fall. A stone may lie in water
for ages, but when you look you will find it dry
within. A hard grain of pulse cannot be boiled,
if you look you will find it just as it was. Tuka
says, There is a remedy for everything but a
wicked man.
