Tukaram, Poem 2363

This was our occupation in many a past life;
we will soothe those afflicted with pain in
the fever of life. We will sing the praises of Hari;
we will bring together the frolicsome Vaishnavas;
we will draw streams of tears from rocks. Tuka
says, We have imprisoned lust and anger; we
have learned to master our senses; we have become lords of the earth.
