Tukaram, Poem 2173

Let men’s curses rest on my head; my Vittha-
bai is good to me. She has fostered me;
she is full of mercy in her heart. The Vedas and
the ancient scriptures praise her; I am her pet,
her cherished one. Her name is the wishing tree,
the cow of desire; I am her babe, says Tuka.
