Tukaram, Poem 1846

We must make God our own by giving up everything; we must part with our store of merit past and future.
After this, how can the world capture us again? The very sprouts of the seed of action will be burned up.
Let the body be surrendered, like a sacred cake, to Him who gave it us; let us set ourselves free by grasping His feet.
Tuka says, We shall enjoy the self by owning ourselves to be His; nothing else will have dominion over us.
