Tukaram, Poem 710

He who renounces all is ever clear, even as flame, that clings not to any impurity. He who is truthful in speech throughout this worldly course is like the lotus to which the water clings not. He who serves other creatures and shows them compassion, in him the supreme spirit dwells. He who utters not nor listens to criticism of others, he is Janardana dwelling in the world. Tuka says, he who knows not the secret is exhausted by ritual observances.
