Lesson 332

There is Panduranga, standing before and behind me.

Excerpt

I shall no more suffer my mind to be divided; I shall not leave Vitthoba’s feet. I shall not let the wind of any other blow upon my body. I shall now come and go with God; this I have done since that day. What, have I lost all, that I should disquiet myself? There is Panduranga, standing before and behind me. Tuka says, I ask for abounding love—for the fruits of Vaikuntha to be enjoyed on earth.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Tukaram, the poet-saint of Maharashtra, whoever lives with God — whom he calls Vitthoba or Panduranga, names of Vishnu worshipped at Pandharpur — has no more reason to worry: God stands before him and behind him, and he asks only for love, that "fruit of paradise (Vaikuntha)" to be tasted here and now. Today, whenever a worry arises, imagine this loving presence surrounding you on all sides, and breathe with trust.
