Lesson 301

He wanted all of them to realise their blissful Self.

Excerpt

Sri Sankara, being the avatar of Siva, was full of compassion for fallen beings. He wanted all of them to realise their blissful Self. He could not reach them all with his Silence. So he composed the Dakshinamurti stotra in the form of a hymn so that people might read it and understand the Truth.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Ramana Maharshi, Shankara, a great sage of India revered as an incarnation (avatar) of Shiva, wanted everyone to discover their Self, the state of bliss; unable to reach each one through his silence alone, he composed a hymn, the Dakshinamurti stotra (“Hymn to Shiva, the silent teacher”), so that everyone could read it and understand the Truth. Today, share with someone, through a word, a message or a reading, something that brings you peace, simply so that they can benefit from it too.
