Lesson 239

Saints, trees, rivers, mountains and the earth, all operate for the good of others.

Excerpt

Saints, trees, rivers, mountains and the earth, all operate for the good of others. The heart of the saints is like butter; so the poets say, but they say not well; for butter melts when itself is tried by the fire, but the saints are so good that they melt at others' trials.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Tulsidas, in his Ramayana, saints, like trees, rivers and the earth, live for the good of others; their heart melts not at its own pain, like butter in the fire, but at the pain of others. Today, when you notice someone's difficulty, let your heart soften and offer them a concrete gesture of kindness.
