Lesson 144

Silence changes the hearts of all.

Excerpt

Silence changes the hearts of all. There is no Guru and no disciple. The ajnani confounds his body with the Self and so he takes the other’s body for the Guru. But does the Guru think his body to be the Self? He has transcended the body. There are no differences for him.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Ramana Maharshi, the most powerful initiation (diksha) is silence: it changes the hearts of all, and in this silence there is no longer master or disciple, for the true master does not mistake himself for his body; only the ajnani, one who does not yet know the Self, sees differences. Today, offer someone a few minutes of silent and kind presence, without trying to speak or advise.
