These are little foretastes of the immortal sweetnesses that God gives to souls who seek Him.

Excerpt

These are little foretastes of the immortal sweetnesses that God gives to souls who seek Him; they are sweetened grains which He gives His little children to entice them; they are cordial waters which He offers them to strengthen them; they are also sometimes pledges of the eternal reward that awaits them.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Saint Francis de Sales, the sweetness we sometimes feel in prayer is like the treats a father gives his little children: foretastes of God’s joy, offered to encourage and comfort. Today, notice one sweetness you receive, a moment of peace or a kind word, and simply say thank you to God.
