He has need of our love--He has no need of our works. The same God, Who declares that He has no need to tell us if He be hungry, did not disdain to beg a little water from the Samaritan woman. He was athirst, but when He said: "Give Me to drink," He, the Creator of the Universe, asked for the love of His creature. He thirsted for love.

✨ To meditate on today
According to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, Jesus does not first ask for our works, but for our love: as with the Samaritan woman from whom He asked a drink, He thirsts to be loved. Today, make a simple gesture, serving a glass of water, saying a kind word, doing it first out of love rather than duty.
