Lesson 326

Whom Thou fillest, Thou liftest up.

Excerpt

When I shall with my whole self cleave to Thee, I shall no where have sorrow or labour; and my life shall wholly live, as wholly full of Thee. But now since whom Thou fillest, Thou liftest up, because I am not full of Thee I am a burden to myself.

✨ To meditate on today

According to Saint Augustine, the soul that God fills becomes light, whereas, empty of Him, it weighs upon itself; wholly united to Him, its life will be “wholly alive,” freed from sorrow. Today, when you feel heavy or cluttered, offer God a moment of silence so that He may fill you, then carry out a task with lightness and joy, without weighing yourself down with reproaches.
