Lesson 31

Thou hast stricken my heart with Thy word, and I loved Thee.

Excerpt

Not with doubting, but with assured consciousness, do I love Thee, Lord. Thou hast stricken my heart with Thy word, and I loved Thee. Yea also heaven, and earth, and all that therein is, behold, on every side they bid me love Thee; nor cease to say so unto all, that they may be without excuse.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to Saint Augustine, his one certainty is that he loves God: a word from God touched his heart, and ever since, heaven, earth and all creation have been telling him again to love Him. Today, pause before something in creation (the sky, a tree, a face) and let it tell you again that it is good to love; then, this evening, remember a word that once touched your heart.
