Lesson 305

First keep thyself in peace, and then shalt thou be able to be a peacemaker towards others.

Excerpt

First keep thyself in peace, and then shalt thou be able to be a peacemaker towards others. A peaceable man doth more good than a well-learned. A passionate man turneth even good into evil and easily believeth evil; a good, peaceable man converteth all things into good.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to The Imitation of Christ, we can only give peace if we first keep it within ourselves; a peaceful and good person does more good than a learned one, for they bring everything back to the good. Today, before a delicate conversation or meeting, take three breaths to regain your calm, then look for the good rather than the bad in what is said.
