The bruised reed He shall not break, and smoking flax He shall not quench.

Excerpt

The bruised reed He shall not break, and smoking flax He shall not quench: He shall bring forth judgment unto truth. He shall not be sad, nor troublesome, till He set judgment in the earth: and the islands shall wait for His law.

โœจ To meditate on today

According to the prophet Isaiah, the Servant chosen by God (in whom Christians recognise Christ) establishes justice without crushing anyone: He does not break the reed that is already bent and does not quench the little flame that flickers. Today, faced with someone fragile or discouraged, choose a gesture that protects their little flame rather than the criticism that would put it out.
