Lesson 160

Is not your heart comforted by thinking upon the immensity of God, His goodness, His tenderness?

Excerpt

Do you feel in your heart a certain facility in loving Him, and a particular relish in tasting this love? Is not your heart comforted by thinking upon the immensity of God, His goodness, His tenderness? If the remembrance of God come to you amid the occupations of the world and its frivolities, does it not make itself room, does it not take hold of your heart? Does it not seem to you that your heart turneth toward Him, and in some manner goeth forth to meet Him?

✨ To meditate on today

According to Saint Francis de Sales, a heart that loves God rejoices simply in thinking of Him: amid our occupations, the remembrance of Him makes itself room and the heart turns towards Him, as towards a friend we were waiting for. Today, choose three moments of your day (a meal, a journey, a break) to think for an instant of God’s goodness and say thank you to Him.
