Sickness is but another name for sin. Healing is but another name for God. Thus the miracle is a call to Him.
Father, You promised that You would never fail to answer any call Your Son might make to You. It does not matter where he is, what seems to be his problem, or what he believes he has become. He is Your Son, and You will answer him. The miracle reflects Your Love, and thus it answers him. Your Name replaces every thought of sin, and he who is sinless cannot suffer. Your Name is the answer You give to Your Son, because invoking Your Name is but invoking his.
Sickness is but another name for sin; healing is but another name for God.
Sickness is but another name for sin. Healing is but another name for God. Thus, the miracle is an appeal to Him. God has promised He will answer every call from His Son, wherever he may be, whatever his apparent problem. You are His Son, and He will answer you. The miracle reflects His Love, and He responds. The Name of God replaces every thought of sin, and he who is without sin cannot suffer. To invoke the Name of God is to invoke your own.
The deeper teaching is that sickness is a decision, not an accident. It is the physical result of belief in separation and guilt. Sin, the belief that you are separate from God, manifests as illness in the body. But healing is as immediate as forgiveness. When you call upon God, you call upon healing. The miracle is the call that links sickness to healing, sin to forgiveness, separation to unity.
This lesson addresses the connection between mind and body. Previous lessons have established that your thoughts create your reality. Here, you see that even sickness is a thought, a belief in separation. Healing is not a medical process but a spiritual one. It is the return to the awareness of unity with God. The miracle, a simple shift in perception, is the call that begins this healing. To invoke God is to recognize that separation is an illusion.
To live this lesson, when illness or discomfort arises, do not fight it with fear. Turn to God and call upon His Name. Say: « Father, I am Your Son, without sin and therefore without suffering. Heal me through Your Love. » Do not ask for healing as if it were outside you; recognize it as already yours. You will find that simply invoking God brings a peace that is the deepest healing.
