Lesson 314
Lesson 314

I seek a future different from the past.

From new perception of the world there comes a future very different from the past. The future now is recognized as but extension of the present. Past mistakes can cast no shadows on it, so that fear has lost its idols and its images, and being formless, it has no effects. Death will not claim the future now, for life is now its goal, and all the needed means are happily provided. Who can grieve or suffer, when the present has been freed, extending its security and peace into a quiet future filled with hope?

Father, we were mistaken in the past, and choose to use the present to be free. Now do we leave the future in Your Hands, leaving behind our past mistakes, and sure that You will keep Your present promises and guide the future in their holy light.

✨ Summary & practice

You seek a future different from the past, it begins now.

A new perception of the world brings forth a future radically different from the past. The future is not a repetition of the past; it is an extension of the present. If your present is freed by forgiveness, then the future will be freed too. Past mistakes cannot cast their shadow on this new future. Fear has lost its idols and images, and having no form, it has no effects. Death no longer claims the future, for life is now the goal.

The great truth of this lesson is that the future is not written by the past. You are not imprisoned by your history. The mistakes you made, the wounds you received, none of this has power over the present moment if you choose to free it. Forgiveness severs the link between past and future. It allows you to begin anew, free of all guilt. Who can suffer when the present is freed, its safety and peace extending into a calm and joyful future?

This lesson bridges forgiveness and liberation from time. You have learned that the past is not real, that only the present exists. Here, you discover that the future can be as free as the present when you choose forgiveness now. Previous lessons prepared you to understand that time is a tool, not a prison. By using the present to forgive, you change not only your today but also your tomorrow. The future becomes an extension of present peace.

In practice today, when a thought of the past visits you, regret, resentment, sadness, do not push it away. Look at it and say: 'You have no hold on my future. I forgive you and let you go.' Then turn to the present. Each time you do this, you free the future from a chain. You will find the future feels less threatening, more open, fuller of possibilities. The future becomes a promise of peace rather than a source of anxiety.

The past is an error, the present is liberation, and the future is in God’s hands. Trust Him.
