Tukaram, Poem 3652

When the people living in the same town cannot agree with one another, decent people should not stop there. You cannot say what may happen there in a moment. Though you may be innocent, they saddle you with trouble.
They have no love for ancient wisdom; they carry on disputes everywhere. The rogue assaults the honest man, and when it happens, one steps in to prevent it. They hand over the prince’s subjects to inconsiderate officials, and get them plundered. It would be better, says Tuka, to find a mountain and seek repose therein.
